Samurai Pizza Cats
That's right, pizza fans. Everyone's favorite anime show is now a
video game! I, for one, was disappointed that this game was never released
in North America. Supposedly, only the best games were released here. What
about Elevator Action? They released Elevator Action here, but not SPC? What
is the world coming to? Superb graphics and play control add nicely to the
sheer enjoyment that this
game brings. This
game, to me, is inexplicably fun to play. And of course, the replay value
is insanely high. I, for one, enjoy going back and beating up on all of those
crows time after time. This game reminds me of Capcom's Darkwing Duck for
some reason. This is the best game that came out of Temco, by far.
The idea of Samurai Pizza cats is to run around and beat up upon the
Big Cheese's diabolical machines. You can run, walk, jump, claw, stab, and
even whack with an umbrella! Throw in all of the show's regulars, including
Jerry Atric, Bad Bird, and Lola (that psychotic rocket lady). As an added
bonus, you can call on the Rescue Team to help you swim through, fly over,
blow up big rocks to walk by, and dig past your obstacles, as long as you
have enough "help" points. Plus, you can preform super moves, as long as
you have enough Ninpo... whatever that is. Some super moves include Speedy
Servichez's (the leader of the bunch) "Slice", Polly Ester's "Heart toss",
and Guido Anchovie's "Sunspot Umbrella". After defeating level 1, you can
play any level you like. The levels range from an underwater adventure to
a battle on top of a building to a march through a mountain. A big bonus
is that the game isn't frustratingly hard. I still go back to this game as
one of my favorites.
